Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Get Ready
First, I put on my cute apron and gather all my equipment on the kitchen counter! Mixing bowl, whisk, and my beautiful molds are all ready, along with my measuring cups and spoons.
Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients
In my mixing bowl, I pour in 1 cup of baking soda and 1/2 cup of citric acid. The fizzing reaction is what makes bath bombs fun, so I’m excited! I also add in 1/2 cup of Epsom salt for that luxurious touch.
Step 3: Add Color and Scent
Now it’s time for the fun part! I grab my food coloring and add a few drops to the dry mixture; the color starts to brighten my day! Then, I take my essential oils—lavender today!—and add 10-15 drops for a wonderful scent.
Step 4: Mix It All Together
With my whisk, I mix the dry ingredients, food coloring, and essential oils together. The colors blend, and it smells divine! I’m careful not to create a cloud of powder; I’m trying to keep my kitchen tidy!
Step 5: Prepare the Wet Mixture
Next, I fill my spray bottle with water—just a little bit! I’m ready to spray. The goal is to add moisture to the dry mixture without making it fizz just yet. I spray lightly while mixing with the whisk.
Step 6: Check the Texture
I want my mixture to hold together when I squeeze it in my hand. If it’s too dry, I add a few more sprays of water. It should feel like damp sand—perfect for packing into my molds!
Step 7: Pack the Molds
Now, I take my mixture and tightly pack it into my molds, pressing down firmly. I make sure to overfill a little, so they pop out nicely later. I love the vibrant colors showing through!
Step 8: Let Them Dry
I let the packed molds sit for a few hours or even overnight to harden. I love this time to clean up and imagine how lovely my bath bombs will look when they’re done.
Step 9: Pop Them Out
Finally, the moment of truth! I carefully take the molds and gently pop out my colorful bath bombs. They hold their shape perfectly, and I can’t resist giving them a sniff!
Step 10: Time to Relax
I grab a bath bomb and drop it into a warm bath. The fizzing and swirling colors fill the tub, and I relax into a fragrant, bubbly soak. Mission accomplished!
